Development Proposal
in response to a sign in front of the Sacred Forest
Hi, it's been a while. After a busy semester, I'm hoping to share more regularly again (back to my every other Friday at 1:30PM!) This was one of three nature poems I recently submitted for publication. The two others were accepted (hooray!) This one was not. Here is an edited version, which I'm happier with, so we'll leave it at that! Can you tell I was in an Environmental Issues course this last semester? I'm all fired up!
Open spaces choke life-giving trees, no more salmonberries; thimbleberries mould in their broad-leafed homes. In high summer, three alders fall—intelligent, porous giants know which way their fate lies. Anticipation kills, the rest follow fallow fallow fallow. Unrelenting overlord seals the sacred forest’s fate, premonitions of muck-filled plains, stark against a periwinkle dusk. Even glinting stars galactica away cannot save her.

We must protect the Sacred Forest
